Family Law Attorney Stefka V. Pfisterer

Stefka Pfisterer brings to our team her wide-ranging experience in offices of public defenders and a United States Attorney. Though she has wanted to be an attorney her whole life (well, since the first grade at least), this Maryland native also found time to play soccer for 12 of her formative years. Competitive in swimming, basketball, and field hockey, Pfisterer knows the special thrill of winning on the field and in the courtroom.

In high school, her field hockey team was in the state finals twice and state champions, with Pfisterer as goalie. She was ranked a top goalie in her county for two of her four high school years.

That same competitiveness and drive to win helped Pfisterer push to pursue her dreams of working in the legal profession: in her senior year of high school, she interned with Maryland’s Carroll County Public Defender’s office.

While attending Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Pfisterer interned with the United States Attorney’s Office of the District of Columbia, working in the Major Felony Crimes Unit. Pfisterer graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Italian Studies (Ciao, bella!). A move to New Orleans took her next to Tulane University for law school.

While holding down a full-time course schedule, Pfisterer also clerked for a federal judge at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Still wanting to do more, she performed pro bono work and, in the summer, worked for the District Attorney in San Diego County, California, during the summer as a certified legal intern. There, Pfisterer litigated and helped try felony and misdemeanor cases.

Her last year of studies at Tulane helped Pfisterer discover her special passion for family law. She worked with the university’s Domestic Violence Clinic, helping victims and realizing how crucial empathy and compassion are in family law. That experience helped her see how she could do good work for her community and apply the law equitably and fairly.

Her other half’s Navy service took her from Louisiana to Virginia Beach, where she offers every client her unfailing energy, honesty, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for the law.
